Big Red Stops Huskies in Their Tracks

There was a nip in the air and heavy cloud cover in the sky when the Huskies pulled into Millville on Saturday. The Big Red was eager to score since it has been a few weeks since we have been able to finish. Fourteen minutes into the first half EJ Johnson '25 lofted a floater from outside the box that sailed over the goalie's hands for goal number one. Three minutes later after a ping pong match in front of the Husky net, Isabel Hunt '26 redirected the bouncing ball and found the back of the net for goal number 2. The rest of the half resulted in a fierce battle but no goals. Although New Hampton's defense was especially skilled with the offsides trap, the Big Red was able to score twice in the second half as well. Goal number three was accomplished by Olivia Shergalis '25 when she redirected a cross served by Isabel Hunt. The frosting on the cake was a Lou Szal '24 goal which came in the last six minutes of play. Szal was able to gain control of the ball deep in the offensive right corner. She cut towards the net and was able to finish at a close to impossible angle when she ripped a shot past the goalie's outstretched arms. New Hampton had some great chances but goalies Szal (during the first half) and Flora Goodman '27 (during the second half) were able to hold them off. Stop by for our last home game which is a rematch with the Bulls from Holderness. See you on Brinley at 2.30pm!
