Wednesday, September 18, brought the Big Red to the campus of the Hornets of Proctor Academy. We played on their turf which was a touch toasty that afternoon. For the first 20 plus minutes of the game the Big Red pressed the Hornets back into their offensive end of the field. Try as we might, Big Red could not get on the board. During the twenty-third minute of play, one of the Hornets backs cleared a ball past the SPS defensive line. The Big Red scrambled back into position, but the Hornets had already capitalized on the dangerous situation. With a quick pass from one striker to another, they were able to get off a shot and the scoreboard read 0 – 1 in their favor. With added confidence, Proctor was able to score two more times during the second half and the game wrapped up with a 3 – nil score in the Hornets favor. Better luck next week when we clash with the Spartans of Lawrence Academy. We will be looking for that elusive first win that all teams crave.
