There are people that would say that the Hornets stung the Big Red on the pitch today; however, when both teams walk away with smiles on their faces and tell their coaches how nice their opponents are, everyone wins. When the game started it was another perfect soccer day in Andover, NH. Nine minutes into the first half the Hornets were able to slip past the defense and earned their first goal with a well struck ball beyond the goalie's reach. The rest of the first half play was even but resulted in no goals for either side. Having made some personnel changes, the Big Red found new energy during the second half. Much of the play was in the Hornet's end and Red was pressing hard. Alas, with less than three minutes left in the game, the Hornets scored again when a ball got loose behind our defense and one of Proctor's players got a shot off. Spirits were high as we drove back to Concord. Notable performances were from Nifemi Omoniyi '28 as striker. Her drive and energy helped to boost the Big Reds play during the second half. Also noted are strikers Isa Gurdian '29 and
Alexandra Brodie '28 who are rapidly climbing the learning curve and mastering the offsides rule. Join us on Saturday, Sept 20 for our home opener against Holderness School.
