The St. Paul's Boys JV Basketball team wrapped up an exciting and hard-fought 2024–2025 season with an impressive
12–4 record, showing strong development, depth, and team chemistry throughout the winter.
Dominant Start and Midseason Momentum
The team came out of the gates with a statement win over Tilton School on December 13, cruising to a
70–32 victory on the road. Though they fell just short in a tight battle with Thayer Academy the next day (
53–59), the early signs pointed to a team ready to compete with anyone.
After the winter break, SPS found its rhythm, going on a
six-game winning streak that included convincing Lakes Region wins over Proctor Academy (
58–30, then again
43–35), New Hampton (
58–30 and a commanding
71–16), and a high-scoring victory over Kimball Union (
74–62).
Resilience in Road Tests
The team faced some tougher matchups in February, including losses to a talented Phillips Exeter squad (
45–59) and Andover (
35–51), as well as a home game against Deerfield that ended in a
32–52 setback. But the boys continued to bounce back with clutch performances.
One of the most thrilling wins of the season came on the road at Austin Prep, where SPS edged out a close
68–65 victory. Just a few days later, they pulled off another tight win at Dexter Southfield (
57–55), showing poise and grit in crunch time.
Finishing Strong
The team closed the season with back-to-back statement victories. SPS defeated Brewster Academy twice, including a dominant
74–31 home win on February 26, and wrapped up the campaign with a solid
62–50 win over St. Sebastian's on February 28 in front of a home crowd.
