St. Paul's Falls to Tilton Despite Strong Effort from Heather Cotter

Heather Cotter delivered a dominant performance in the circle, striking out 12 batters, but St. Paul's came up just short in a 2-1 loss to Tilton on Friday at TBD. Cotter pitched seven strong innings, allowing just three hits, two runs, and one walk.

Despite out-hitting Tilton 7-3, St. Paul's couldn't hold onto their early lead. Dakota Martinez and Morgan Barbossa each recorded two hits to pace the offense. Jade Hill put St. Paul's on the board first with a sacrifice fly in the opening inning.

Tilton rallied in the top of the seventh, taking the lead when Mella singled down the right-field line to tie the game and Crosby followed with a sacrifice bunt to drive in the winning run.

Paquin earned the win in relief for Tilton, tossing two scoreless innings and allowing five hits while walking one. Gillis started for Tilton, giving up two hits and one run over five innings, striking out six.

Hill finished 1-for-3 with an RBI for Big Red, while Jillian Fugere added two stolen bases. The defense also turned a double play. Mella and Crosby each tallied an RBI for Tilton, who played a clean defensive game without committing an error. Mella led the team with seven defensive plays.

St. Paul's will look to bounce back when they travel to New Hampton School for their next game on Saturday.
