It was a perfect day for soccer when the Big Red disembarked from the bus at the Groton School on Saturday. The sky was overcast, there was a light breeze, and temps were in the low 70's – a footballer's delight. Both teams were in day six of their season, so it was a perfect match for a scrimmage. From the first whistle the Big Red had their work cut out for them as the Zebras scored in the 2
nd, 18
th and 23
rd minute of play. Down 3 – 0 at the half, the squad circled up and analyzed our play. With hustle in the midfield and a stronger understanding of the defense, the Big Red generated several scoring opportunities but were unable to put the ball in the net. The Zebra's were able to get one more goal during the 9
th minute of the second half but that was all they could muster. Our learning during the half time analysis was evident. Notable performances from goalie Brie Davis '28,
Eisa Hiam '28 in the back, and newcomer to the squad, Sofie Patzer '29 who was able to get off multiple shots in the second half. Congratulations to our new Captains: Allegra Caracappa '27 and
Brielle Davis '28. On Wednesday we will be off to Proctor Academy for our season opener. Go Big Red!
