On a beautiful fall Saturday, the cross country team traveled to Deerfield. It was the first head-to-head race of the season, which alongside the flat course, yielded individual and team success. Of the 28 Pelican runners, 24 produced either a season's best or a personal best. Knowles Johnson continued to lead the Pelicans from the front and was first for all runners. She was followed by C.C. Goss, Brooks Boyd, Honey Brown, Lu Rodriguez, Margaux Wasson, and MJ Williams-Bello who rounded out varsity finishers. For the second race in a row, the JV team was led by Katie Ragsdale who was closely followed by Georgia Rudisill and Allison Min. SPS GXC has a busy week ahead. On Wednesday they will race at the Northern New England Invitational at Proctor, a Lakes Region competition. On Thursday they will send 14 runners to the Capital Area Invitational to test their fitness against Concord area schools, and on Saturday the team will finish the week at Andover.
