Big Red win opener at Nobles

Led by Sixth Former and team co-captain Jade Hill, the St. Paul's School softball team defeated Nobles and Greenough School 15-5 on Wednesday away at Nobles. Hill collected four hits in four at bats, doubling in the third inning and singling in the fourth, second and first innings.

St. Paul's School got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jelina Martinez drew a walk, scoring one run. Sixth Former Violet Eaton grounded out, scoring another run. A triple by Jillian Fugere, and a single by Martinez helped St. Paul's School extend their early lead in the second inning. St. Paul's School scored five runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. Eaton drew a walk, scoring one run, while Dot Ricard grounded out, scoring another.

Fifth former Lucy Kaiser made her pitching debut for the Big Red, playing a critical role in the win. Kaiser gave up just three hits and four runs (three earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out an impressive five and walking none. Medina appeared in relief for St. Paul's School.

SPS collected 12 hits in the game. Fugere blasted a triple into the deep outfield and led St. Paul's School with three runs batted in. Martinez, Medina, and Kaiser each collected multiple hits for the Big Red. Adriana Torres led St. Paul's School with three walks while Third Former Eloise Ekstrand made her debut for the Big Red, showcasing her exceptional speed and agility on the bases. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks and running wild on the base paths with an impressive eight stolen bases for the game.
