St. Paul’s recently gave the 15-year-old Bogle Lechner Turf Field a major upgrade, replacing its incandescent lights with modern LEDs. The difference on the field is dramatic. The new lights also bring something fans can enjoy: a programmable light show that can turn goals, team entrances, and big crowd moments into celebrations.
Fans got their first glimpse on September 19, 2026, when St. Paul’s hosted Groton in boys soccer. After a late second-half goal by the Big Red, the light show came to life as the team’s chosen goal song, “Samba de Janeiro” by Bellini, played over the new integrated sound system. Players and fans celebrated together as the turf lit up.
The system can also illuminate the light poles in different colors for special events, including cancer awareness nights and schoolwide color themes. Along with the upgraded sound, it gives night games a new level of energy from warmups through the final whistle.
We look forward to many more nights celebrating Big Red Athletics under the lights.
