Our Program

The St. Paul's School alpine skiing team competes in the Lakes Region Ski League, as well as within Class A of the NEPSAC. Our program skis against some of the best prep school teams in New England, often achieving great results. During the past five seasons, the team has twice won the New England championships.

Our School boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including training areas, equipment and support staff, all designed to support your development as an athlete. Four days a week, we train at Pats Peak, located 20 minutes away. As coaches, we focus on helping our skiers improve their racing abilities while also ensuring that the team continues to be a fun experience for all. As student-athletes, our skiers pride themselves on building strong team bonds. You'll find a supportive and encouraging environment here where you can grow not only as an athlete, but also as a person.

Coaching

Head Coach Thomas Gregston joined the St. Paul's School faculty in the fall of 2016 as a physics teaching fellow. During his first two years at SPS, Coach Gregston taught Physics First, coached the alpine ski team and JV boys tennis, and served as an adviser in Middle House. In 2018, he transitioned into a new role as an associate dean of students. With a passion for equity and inclusivity, he works closely with clubs and affinity groups and is also the director of the SPS Bridges program.

Coach Gregston earned his B.A. in physics and classical civilizations from Colby College and an M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education through the Boarding School Teaching Fellow Residency Program. He was first introduced to SPS as a member of the Advanced Studies Program class of 2011.

Sportsmanship, respect and kindness are at the core of our coaching and playing, whether at the club, junior varsity or varsity team level. On the field, court and ice, students step into leadership roles, taking as their role models the coaches who also serve as their classroom teachers and house advisers. Our 95,000-square-foot Athletic and Fitness Center serves the entire St. Paul's community, helping all students prioritize their physical well being — no matter their athletic interests or skill level.
