St. Paul's School

Shreyas Rane brings experience as both a competitive athlete and a multi-sport coach to St. Paul’s School. Growing up in India, he played field hockey at the national level before moving to the United States, an experience that continues to shape his understanding of the game and his coaching approach.

Mr. Rane began coaching at The Taft School, where he coached JV field hockey and squash. He has continued coaching both sports at St. Paul’s School and is now in his third year coaching JV field hockey at SPS.

Across both field hockey and squash, Mr. Rane emphasizes strong fundamentals, tactical awareness, confidence, and thoughtful decision-making. In field hockey, his coaching particularly emphasizes movement, communication, purposeful passing, and decisive attacking play. Above all, he aims to create a competitive yet supportive environment where athletes can develop their skills, deepen their understanding of their sport, and enjoy being part of a team.
