We traveled to New Hampton School on Saturday with six guys to participate in the Lakes Region League Tournament. There were four separate mini tournaments, one for each of the following: #1 singles, #2 singles, #1 doubles, and #2 doubles. Each draw consisted of 8-10 players from other Lakes Region Schools.
JB Estes '25 was set to play in the #1 singles tournament but had a last minute medical problem and needed to default his match. He is feeling better now and seems to have a handle on the probable cause.
Scott Jiao '23 represented us in the #2 singles tournament. On his way to becoming Champion, he defeated Holderness, 8-2, Cardigan, 8-4, and Brewster, 8-3, with consistent play mixed with impressive offensive shots. This was Scott's final match wearing the SPSred and we are all proud of his accomplishments during the last four years!
Hunter Morton '26 and William Mao '23 proved to be the strongest #1 doubles team, also defeating Brewster in the finals, 8-3. Their road to the finals brought them against Tilton, then KUA, both going to St. Paul's with a score of 8-2. Congratulations to Hunter and William for competing at such a high level in all three rounds!
Enoch Huang '25 and Peter Ding '26, our #2 doubles team gained valuable tournament experience on their way to becoming Champions. Their first round match against a tenacious Cardigan team went to a tiebreaker. Peter and Enoch showed incredible determination, overcoming a tense back and forth set. In the semis and finals, against New Hampton and Brewster respectively, they looked confident and powerful while earning their victories.
Congratulations to our team for representing St. Paul's School so well! Next week we close out the regular season and travel to Northfield Mount Herman and Brewster.
