St. Paul's Baseball Beats Jefferson High School

St. Paul's was triumphant over Jefferson High School 8-6 on Saturday.
 
St. Paul's jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Will Ekstrand singled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Jefferson High School made the score 4-3 in the top of the second after #14 drew a walk, scoring one run, #4 hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and #5 singled, scoring two runs.
St. Paul's  made the score 6-4 in the bottom of the second after an error scored two runs, and Luke Newhall drew a walk, scoring one run.
Carter Corbett began the game for St. Paul's . The starting pitcher allowed two hits and five runs (four earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking four. #11 started on the bump for Jefferson High School. The The starting pitcher gave up five hits and eight runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking five. Sam Ekstrand, Harry Dermody, Kallen Fitzpatrick, Harry Elworth, and Daniel Sullivan each threw shutout innings for St. Paul's  in relief.

Ekstrand and Newhall each drove in two runs for St. Paul's.  Sullivan went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead St. Paul's  in hits. Eoin Sheehy stole two bases. St. Paul's  ran wild on the base paths, accumulating three stolen bases for the game. St. Paul's were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.

Theo Schneible had the most chances in the field with seven. #5 went 1-for-3 at the plate as they led the team with two runs batted in. #11, #19, and #5 each collected one hit for Jefferson High School. Jefferson High School had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game. #19 and #14 led the team with two free passes each.

Cole Edwards made a nice sliding catch with the basesloaded and two outs to secure the win for SPS. 

The Big Red head back to Concord on Sunday to prepare for their scrimmage with Exeter in the final tune up before the regular season.
