SPS Drops Contest to Nobles

The Big Red headed to Dedham for a much-anticipated matchup against Nobles. The first half was a close matchup and a battle of the defenses. Neither team scored until close to 7 minutes into the game whe Nobles opened the scoring on a free position. With about 90 seconds left in the first quarter, Nobles scored again to go up by 2. SPS gave up another goal 30 seconds into the second quarter to go down by 3, but the responded with 2 goals in 2 minutes. Gretta White '25 scored both, first off a beautiful pass from Amelia Shair '25 and then on a free position. The score was 2-3 and SPS had some energy and momentum. Despite this, the Big Red gave up 3 more goals in the second quarter and was down 2-6 at halftime.

The third quarter was one of the toughest quarters of the season for SPS. The Big Red did not have a single play in the offensive end of the field and the Big Red defense played 12 straight minutes of lacrosse. They were able to hold Nobles to only 4 goals in the third, but this put SPS in a hole, down 2-10 with one quarter left to play. The offense generated a few opportunities in the fourth quarter but was not able score any more goals. Nobles played well, had a strong offensive ride that impacted our ability to move the ball up the field and generated several turnovers. Goalie Bella Perry '25 had her best game of the season and made some truly impressive saves throughout the game.

SPS returns for postseason play with the Lake Region Semifinals at home against New Hampton on Wednesday.
