The SPS Girls Varsity Soccer team earned a 0-0 draw with Groton School in the season opener for the Big Red. On a hot Saturday, Groton started the game aggressively and the SPS defensive back-line of Maggie, Raegan, Cami, Antonia held firm. The midfield trio of Alexa, Elle & Meg found their footing and began to create opportunities in the Groton third. JP, Rell & Meg went close in the 1^st half. The second half saw an even contest with both sides creating chances and defending well. In the dying seconds of the 2^nd half Gabby pulled off terrific diving save to preserve a draw for then Pelicans. For the contest SPS had 13 shots, earned 6 corners from very good wing play. Up next for the Big Red is a home Lakes Region League contest against the Rams of Tilton School on Wednesday.
