Concord, NH - St. Paul's School Girls Varsity Soccer team opened its season with a 1-0 win over Groton School on Saturday, with Kelsey MacPherson scoring the game winner 24 minutes into the 1st half.

Playing with a new center back pairing the Big Red were able to hold off the Groton attack, and Senior Chandler Curtis preserved the win by stopping several shots and coming off her line in a timely fashion. In the 24th minute JP Collins picked up a loose ball in the middle of the field and sent a nice through ball for Kelsey who side stepped the advancing Groton GK and slotted home the eventual game winner.

The Big Red continued to be a threat in the waning minutes of the 2nd half, and Groton looked to the counterattack, but the SPS backline held firm. The Hilton School Rams visit the Big Red on Saturday for the 1st Lakes Region matchup of the season.
