SPS lost on the road against Cushing Academy on Wednesday, January 22
nd. SPS played fast, hard, and clean hockey to start the game. The Big Red was rolling, and they struck first.
Erin Flaherty scored the game's first goal early in the first. Sophomore
Maggie Berleth assisted. Cushing responded immediately and scored on a breakaway. Cushing kept rolling, and quickly took the lead off a power play backdoor goal. The first period ended 3-1 for Cushing. SPS came out hard in the second, and
Maude Niemann scored an unassisted top-shelf goal during her first shift. Cushing responded again, recapturing their two-goal lead. Junior
Chelsea Bell scored a beautiful goal on a 5v3 powerplay.
Caroline Humber had the assist. St. Paul's efforts were not enough, however, and the game ended 6-3 for Cushing.
