The Big Red honored the American Cancer Society in their game against Tabor on Friday February 14
th. Both teams came out hard, and the Big Red capitalized early.
Erin Flaherty scored less than two minutes into the game. Seniors
Caroline Humber and Charlie Voge had the assists. Tabor responded almost immediately and scored 3 goals in the first period. Down 1-3 going into the second, The Big Red dug deep.
Erin Flaherty scored another goal on the powerplay in the second period, making the game 2-3.
Chelsea Bell and
Caroline Humber assisted the goal. SPS was down by one going into the third period. The Big Red didn't relent. Senior Charlie Voge tallied a goal of her own on the powerplay. Maddy Humber and
Erin Flaherty assisted the game-tying goal. The momentum continued, and SPS scored again in the third to take the lead over Tabor.
Erin Flaherty scored her third goal of the game on the powerplay, earning her first-ever hat trick at SPS. Junior
Maggie Berleth earned the assist. The game remained 4-3 for SPS until
Caroline Humber netted the puck on Tabor's empty net with 1 second left in the game. The game ended 5-3 for SPS.
