The girls JV Hockey team continued to roll with a fun filled victory over the Hornets from Proctor Academy on Wednesday afternoon. The game was a spirited contest with plenty of laughs and camaraderie among the girls as they took to the ice in their second to last game of the season. The eight seniors on the squad led the charge, dominating on offense and holding Proctor to zero goals and very few scoring opportunities.
Parker Neilson was excellent in goal stopping any/all Proctor shots and helping to corral the puck on long passes into the zone. Seniors
Caroline Frost and Kitty Diamond would play strong games at both ends of the ice helping the team to victory with their effort and grit. Sixth formers Ali Cabot and
Marina Kane got the scoring started as Marina fed Ali in the slot for the Big Red's first goal. Ali would then feed fellow sixth former
Emerson Bentley who scored top shelf to make it 2-0. Later in the first period, Callie Fortin would skate in unchallenged and score from the left hash mark as the squad headed into the first break up 3-0.
Gracen Arndt would score midway through the second period to extend the lead to 4-0 and Callie would add her second goal of the game off a rebound from an Allegra Caracappa shot; 5-0. The sixth formers got back into the scoring action in the third period as Ali Cabot hit a slapshot one timer on a feed from sixth former
Meg Bohan to make it 6-0. Senior Nel Peter scored our final goal of the game on a rebound in front as the girls went home with the victory 7-0. One more game remains for the girls as they take on Lawrence Academy at home on Friday night.
