Big Red fall to Exeter in close home match
The St. Paul's School Boys Varsity Squash team lost a closely contested match to Granite State foe Exeter, 2 – 5. In the first round of matches Exeter took an early advantage. At the #2 position, Ryan Wu earned a 3 – 1 match over his opponent, securing SPS 1 of the 3 points available. Down 2 – 1 after the first matches, the second round brought many close battles, but ultimately Exeter pulled away. At #1 Jason Zhuang earned a 3 – 0 victory to give SPS its second point. Tiger Qian were locked in back-and-forth matches with their opponents. In the end, both players lost in the fifth game. Although the final score was 2 – 5, the SPS team was a handful of points away from winning 4 – 3 and will be excited for future opportunities to play Exeter and Nationals and New England's. SPS will now turn its attention towards Milton Academy, who will travel to Millville on Saturday for another important home match.
