Big Red take on Green Doors of Deerfield

The girls and boys team travelled west and southwest today up across the Worcester Monadnock Plateau and Sunapee Uplands, down through the Connecticut River Valley to the eastern banks of the Deerfield River at the edge of the Vermont Piedmont for a good afternoon of swimming against Deerfield Academy. That is to say, the team continues to learn about the "getting there" this season, making progress across the multiple terrains of swimming well.

Highlights included a season best 50 fly split of 26.9 by Andy Huffer in the 200 Medley Relay. Nicolas Davalos edged out a Deerfield swimmer by .16 seconds for 2nd place in the 200 IM. Rachel Tien took 3rd in the 50 free with a 27.69, which was .03 seconds off her season best time. Marielle took 2nd place in diving against Deerfield's seven divers. Jacqueline Pan dropped 1.7 seconds off her previous season's fastest time in the 100 fly with a 1:07.32. While Prescott Zee dropped 2.5 seconds off his best time in the 100 fly. In the Girls 100 free, Claire Huang swam a personal best of 1:02.44 and Gigi Wood dropped more than 3 seconds off her personal best. In similar fashion, Myles Tsai shaved 3 seconds off his best 100 Free time. In the 500 Free, Ari Rubiralta Kunze dropped 6 seconds off her personal best, while Zee dropped more than 2.5 seconds off his best in the Boys heat. The SPS 200 Free Boys and Girls Relay continued their ascent with record breaking swims. The girls (Huang, Pan, Tien, and Alison Min) took second place with a 1:50.17, lowering the school record by more than 2 seconds; and the boys (Huffer, Jayden Cheng, William Su, and Tyler Jefferson) posted a 1:39.02, shedding 2.1 seconds off the old mark. In the Girls 100 Back, Lucy Kaiser dropped more than a second off her personal best time.  Katie Ragsdale  swam a 1:29.89 in the 100 Breaststroke, improving her personal best time by 1.17 seconds. Co-captain Isabel Knizek shaved half a second off her season best time leading off the Girls 400 Free Relay. Finally,  Tyler Jefferson,  anchoring the Boys 400 Free Relay,  swam 7 seconds faster than his personal best time from last season.
