St. Paul's School

Our Program

The St. Paul's School baseball team plays against many of the top programs throughout New England and competes each season for the Lakes Region Championship. From 2022-2024, the team won three consecutive regular season titles and two Lakes Region tournaments. Over the last five years, the team has amassed an overall record of 68-14.

Joining the St. Paul's baseball program is an invitation to live, work and compete with teammates who share a common passion for the game of baseball. Students strive to improve every day as individuals while learning to play a team game.

Each year, the team takes a one-week trip to Florida for spring training, practicing and competing against other high school teams from around the country, including some very high-level teams and players. It's a wonderful experience, and many former players list it among their favorite experiences at St. Paul's. It's an opportunity not only to improve as a team and as individuals, but also to bond as friends.

Coaching

Head Coach Parker Chase joined SPS in 1996 as a mathematics teacher and has coached varsity baseball his entire time at SPS, becoming head coach in 2003. Coach Chase has recently been pursuing Driveline certification in pitching and hitting, looking for ways to develop as a coach and helping the development of players. Coach Chase incorporates some of the Driveline drills and principles into off-season and in-season training as he looks to help each player improve individually and meet their goals. Coach Chase's experience also includes five years coaching the local Concord American Legion Team and serving on the board of Concord National Little League.

Coach Chase earned his B.S. in mathematics from Stanford University in 1991 and his M.Ed. from Harvard's Graduate School of Education in 2006.

Facilities

SPS Varsity Diamond: The SPS varsity field is a beautiful diamond with dugouts, a batting cage and bullpen. On warm spring days, our many fans enjoy cheering from the stands or from beyond the foul lines as the team competes.
The Cage: SPS has excellent indoor facilities as well, with a full turf infield along with two batting cages and indoor mounds for off-season practice.

Many St. Paul's alumni have gone on to play at the highest levels of collegiate baseball. Our goal is to provide every player with the skills and knowledge to have the opportunity to make an immediate impact at the next level. In recent years, former players have played at Northeastern, UC-Berkeley, Williams, Washington & Lee, Skidmore, Hamilton, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Wesleyan and Bates.

Sportsmanship, respect and kindness are at the core of our coaching and playing, whether at the club, junior varsity or varsity team level. On the field, court and ice, students step into leadership roles, taking as their role models the coaches who also serve as their classroom teachers and house advisers. Our 95,000-square-foot Athletic and Fitness Center serves the entire St. Paul's community, helping all students prioritize their physical well being — no matter their athletic interests or skill level.
