Our Program

The St. Paul's School girls cross country coaching staff is experienced, knowledgeable and passionate. Our goal is to help each athlete challenge themselves while working with their teammates to improve individually and collectively. At the center of the program is a strong sense of community, belonging and accountability.

Team culture is not just an idea for us. Everything we do is centered on fostering a strong sense of self within the team. We work in training groups with specific training programs based on individual ability. We love to celebrate success with PR socks and reflect on a week of hard work during Friday tea time. Even better is time spent eating pasta and watching a movie before a big meet.
If you are interested in participating in cross country at St. Paul's School, please fill out our questionnaire.

Coaching

Head Coach Jessica Pine had a nomadic upbringing, living in locations as varied as Luxembourg, Pennsylvania and Florida, but she always returned to her family's home in New Hampshire to spend the summer. As the daughter of teachers and a boarding school graduate herself, Coach Pine knows firsthand the unparalleled value of living on a boarding school campus. Her desire to travel and teach brought her to live and work in some spectacularly beautiful places, including Sedona, Arizona, and Leysin, Switzerland. Coach Pine's commitment to independent boarding schools — whether coaching basketball, cross country or track; living in the dorm; leading international travel trips; or sharing her love of history with her students — began immediately after graduating from college. Her craft has been cultivated by each school community in which she has immersed herself, and her enthusiasm has only expanded as she now shares the joys of boarding school life with her own children.

Facilities

The SPS cross country course is a very well-kept, wide and beautiful trail that is used for training and also serves as the team's home race course. The course takes runners 3.1 miles around campus and through the surrounding woods. Practices take advantage of SPS's 2,000-acre grounds, which include 25 miles of wooded trails.

Become Big Red. The color will suit you.

Sportsmanship, respect and kindness are at the core of our coaching and playing, whether at the club, junior varsity or varsity team level. On the field, court and ice, students step into leadership roles, taking as their role models the coaches who also serve as their classroom teachers and house advisers. Our 95,000-square-foot Athletic and Fitness Center serves the entire St. Paul's community, helping all students prioritize their physical well being — no matter their athletic interests or skill level.
