St. Paul's School

Our Program

As a top program in New England, St. Paul's School girls lacrosse has achieved much success over the years. The team competes each spring in the Prep Invitational Tournament, featuring the top teams in New England, and has won the Lakes Region Tournament championship game since joining the league. We also travel to Connecticut in the summers to compete in the High School National Tournament. Notably, we have had many All-American, All-Academic All-Americans, All-NEPSAC and All-Lakes Region players come through our program, most of whom go on to play college lacrosse, with players at both the Division I and Division III levels — including some at the national level. In addition, during the summer of 2025, we had three players represent their countries in the Women's U20 World Championships in Hong Kong.

Our coaches are passionate about lacrosse and look forward to going to the turf field every afternoon in the spring to help our athletes achieve their goals. We believe in fostering a great team culture and an environment that will help you grow as both an athlete and person during your high school career.

Currently, we have student-athletes playing at schools that include Boston University, Boston College, Columbia, Northwestern, Clemson and Holy Cross, and 11 girls on our current roster committed to play lacrosse for top academic and athletic institutions across the country including Cornell, Duke, Harvard, the University of Michigan and Yale.

Coaching

Head Coach Heather Crutchfield has spent her career at St. Paul's School as an associate director of admissions, the School's first female athletic director and an associate dean of students. She also was a member of the New England Preparatory Schools Athletic Council (NEPSAC) executive committee.

Coach Crutchfield has made an impact on countless SPS students as an inspiring and dedicated coach. She has led SPS varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams to undefeated seasons and ISL and New England Championships, and her players have received league, New England and All-American recognition under her guidance as well as in college.

She received her B.S. degree from the University of New Hampshire, where she played both field hockey and lacrosse and was a starter for all four years in both sports. An All-American in lacrosse, Coach Crutchfield won the NCAA Division I Lacrosse National Championship in 1985 when UNH defeated Maryland in the title game. She also played in the Final Four in field hockey four times.

Sportsmanship, respect and kindness are at the core of our coaching and playing, whether at the club, junior varsity or varsity team level. On the field, court and ice, students step into leadership roles, taking as their role models the coaches who also serve as their classroom teachers and house advisers. Our 95,000-square-foot Athletic and Fitness Center serves the entire St. Paul's community, helping all students prioritize their physical well being — no matter their athletic interests or skill level.
