In the opening boys varsity hockey game of the 2024-2025 winter athletic season, the Big Red skated to a 10-2 victory over the Brewster Bobcats at home in the hockey center on Gordon Rink. This win marked the first victory for their new head coach,
Scott Harff, at his alma mater
The Big Red enjoyed scoring from nine different St. Paul' s School skaters. SPS scored three goals in both the first and second periods, finishing the last eighteen minutes of play with four additional goals.
Sixth Form Captain
Matt Vohra (Valley, NS) and Fourth Form forward Fin Kilbourne (Duxbury, MA) led all scorers, each notching three points: Vohra had two goals and an assist, while Kilbourne had one goal and two assists. Several other St. Paul's players had multiple-point games: Fifth Form defenseman
Quinn Brandell (Plattsburgh, NY) recorded two assists, Sixth Form forward
Tommy Humphreys (Simsbury, CT) contributed a goal and an assist, and newcomer Fourth Form forward
Ryan Vohra (Valley, NS) and Third Former
Luke Michaud (Denver, CO) each had a goal and an assist.
The remainder of St. Paul's School scoring came from the sticks of
Jaden Ficek '26 (Bedford, NH),
Gavin Code '26 (Littleton, CO),
Anderson Kilbourne '26 (Duxbury, MA), and new Fifth Form skater
Carter Doherty (Concord, NH), who scored in his first varsity hockey game.
Sixth Form netminder
Treva Murphy stood tall in the net for the full fifty-four minutes of play, stopping a number of key pucks at crucial moments in the game. This was a typical Lake Region hockey game, where the score does not always indicate how close the game was.Â
SPS is certainly excited to have earned their first Lakes Region win of the season, but they also know they have
a tough road game tomorrow at 4:30 against the always-stingy Tilton School Rams at MacMorran Rink.
