The SPS boys varsity basketball game opened the season against Belmont Hill with a decisive 66-51 victory. In the game, St. Paul's started on a 8-0 run, thanks to two baskets from
Justin Huang, along with one each for
Teigan Pelletier and
Treyvon Miller. The remainder of the first half was back and forth, with Belmont Hill raining threes, while St. Paul's consistently scored in the paint. At halftime, the score was 29-23 SPS. In the second half, St. Paul's robust team defense, along with consistent ball movement and pace on offense, allowed the Big Red to pull away. At this point,
Landon Clark went on a tear from deep,
Treyvon Miller punched home a couple of fast break dunks, and freshman
Quintin Eason took a tough charge on defense. Ultimately, the Big Red secured a resounding double-digit victory. In the win,
Landon Clark finished with 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Justin Huang added 14 points and 4 rebounds.
Teigan Pelletier and
Treyvon Miller each had 13 points and 5 rebounds. And,
Mekhi Simmons distributed the ball well from the point guard position, finishing with 6 assists.
