Boys' 3^rd Eight:
 
SPS drew a challenging heat in the boys' 3^rd eight, with Andover, St. John's Exeter, Brookline, and St. John's Prep all contending for three places in the final.  SPS struggled off the start, as one of the oarsmen got his oar jammed in his oarlock and caught several crabs.  SPS recovered from these crabs, but found itself behind the field, chasing the race.  To their credit, the boys persevered through the middle 500m, and pulled themselves into 4^th place.  Unfortunately, they were unable to close the gap on the leading crews, and finished fourth, not qualifying for the finals.  This was a disappointing misadventure for a crew that had looked to be gaining speed and confidence coming into the racing today.

Boys' 2^nd Eight:
 
St. Paul's drew a daunting task, coming into the regatta seeded eleventh and racing seeds 2, 5, and 8, with two to qualify for the final.  SPS approached this task head on, taking the early lead off the start, and extending this advantage to roughly a length on the field by 500m gone.  In the middle 500m, B.C. High and Salisbury responded well to the challenge SPS had posed, stopping SPS from moving away from them and starting to work to close the gap.  In the third 500m, B.C. High put on an effective sprint, taking first 0.6 seconds ahead of SPS who finished nearly a length ahead of Salisbury and Kent and putting St. John's Prep and Shrewsbury in 5^th and 6^th place.
 
In the final, SPS again started aggressively, matching Deerfield's early speed and holding second place.  In the middle 500m, Exeter and B.C. High worked their way back into contention for second, with Deerfield taking a commanding lead and SPS second.  In the third 500m, Deerfield extended their lead, Exeter challenged SPS for second, ultimately beating SPS by 0.6 seconds, and SPS held off hard-charging B.C. High to claim third place.  This was a great final race from this crew.  They showed determination and resolve in both matching the early pace Deerfield set and then pushing hard in both the second and third 500s of the race to earn their third-place finish.

Boys' 1^st Eight:
 
The SPS crew knew they had a challenge in the heat with both Andover and Exeter in their heat.  SPS was a bit forced off the start, ceding both Andover and Exeter an early lead that would prove important.  SPS found a more effective rhythm in the middle 500m, and they pushed back on both Andover and Exeter, but could not find a way to draw even.  In the third 500m, Andover and Exeter proved to have the more effective sprints, leaving SPS a disappointed third place and a spot in the petite final.
 
In the petite final (places 7 – 12), SPS set the standard early, pushing to a ¾ length lead over St. John's Prep and B.C. High, with Hingham, Stonington, and Bedford falling back a bit from the leaders.  In the middle 500m, SPS held their lead over St. John's Prep, with B.C. High falling back a bit, and Stonington, Hingham, and Bedford trailing.  In the third 500m, SPS held their lead, covering every attempt St. John's Prep made to close the gap between them, and pressing out further on B.C. High, Hingham, Stonington, and Bedford.  SPS won this race, consoling themselves with finishing 7^th overall, and with rowing a solid if unspectacular race to close out a strong season.
