The Big Red ground out a gutsy 2-1 victory over the visiting Cardigan Mountain School today. After starting keeper Aarav Mehta left the game in the first ten minutes after a flagrant foul from Cardigan striker Robby Anderson that resulted in a yellow card, Alex Gallient valiantly stepped into the goal and played tremendously, including saving a penalty shot in the second half. Jehyeong Suh got the Big Red on the board in the first half when he blasted a shot into the net from outside the box off of a corner kick. Cardigan later put in the equalizer in the second frame when they capitalized on one of their own corner kicks. With time winding down in the game, Jeet Ghosh struck a majestically arcing ball off a corner kick that Kwame Ackah deflected to Luca Walter who put it into the back of the net for the game-winner. Noah Ivanov played a particularly strong game on the back line as he disrupted and squashed many scoring opportunities. Nick Patterson and Francesc Rubiralta also kept up the pressure on Cardigan Mountain and helped keep them back on their heels. Up next for The Big Red is a clash with Dexter-Southfield.
