Boys XC Finishes in 2nd Place at NEPSAC’s

At the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Division I Championship on November 8, St. Paul's School Boys Cross Country earned 2nd place out of 14 teams in the varsity race and 5th place out of 12 teams in the junior varsity (JV) race. This year hosted by Taft School, the NEPSAC Championship features the fastest programs in the region across multiple leagues peaking for their season's main event. Regular-season racing indicated that several schools were in the mix for the day's 4 hardware-earning spots, and the St. Paul's boys were eager to compete.

In both races, St. Paul's leaned on the pack running and measured pacing that led to success all season. Captain Owen Gorenc '27 took the group out for the first stretch and eventually stretched out a leading pack on the course's second lap, finishing 8th overall. Charlie Harvey '29, Linus Krenkel '27, and Langston Williams '27 rolled together over the Taft Hills and finished within seconds of each other, all earning top-20 spots behind Gorenc. Captain Chappy Carroll '27 was the 5th St.Paul's runner in, ahead of the 4th runners from close competitor schools Deerfield and Loomis Chaffee. JV runners followed the varsity model and used reliable groups to pace the first loop and then pass opponents on the course's closing climbs. Captain Luca Bocesion '27 was the first Paulie across the line and earned a top-10 finish in his last cross-country race for the School. Fellow Sixth Formers Kyle Gump and Will Carten backed him up and also finished in the top 30. Harry Moyer '27 and Alex Lamotte '29 finished as a pair to round out the scorers, with Jonah Farkas '27 and Rhys Henrikson '26 close behind and displacing scorers from other schools.

The varsity team's 2nd-place finish is their best mark since winning back-to-back championships in '07 and '08.
