JV Hockey plays to 1-1 tie with Nobles

The St. Paul's JV field hockey squad faced Nobles and Greenough in a matchup for their first away game this season. Both sides opened the game one player short, which created plenty of open space on the field and an early opportunity for Nobles. In just the third minute, Emery Gay broke through the Nobles' defense, weaving past three defenders before slipping a straight drive past the goalie for the first goal of the game. From that point forward, Nobles tightened its play considerably. SPS's defensive unit stood firm, keeping the ball out of our circle. Midfielders Rosie Diamond, Marina Saravi, and Claire Lee worked to recover possession and push play forward, connecting smartly to transition the ball upfield. Their quick pickups and passing helped SPS maintain stretches of possession, while attackers Loisa Gosk and Mano Nagasaki pressed aggressively. The final minutes proved decisive. Despite SPS's defensive grit, Nobles managed to break through in the closing moments. After several denied attempts, they slipped past the back line and found the net in the last minute of play, tying the match 1–1.
