SPS 3 – Northfield Mt. Hermon School 2
January 31, 2026
Hockey Center / Gordon Rink
Concord, New Hampshire
Due to the extreme weather conditions of freezing wind-chill temperatures, the St. Paul's School varsity boys "Big Red" hockey team played host to the Northfield Mt. Hermon "Hoggers" in the Hockey Center on Gordon Rink. "The Big Red" skated away with a three - to - two victory against a disciplined Northfield ice hockey team. St. Paul's School goals were scored by Finian Kilbourne '27, Mitchell Smith '27, and Callum Green '27. The St. Paul's School skaters scored in each of the three periods, all within the first three minutes of the period. Kilbourne's and Smith's goals were scored on wraparound attempts. Kilbourne's goal came from the right side, and Smith's goal from the left side of the Northfield Mt. Hermon net. Green's goal came on the power-play when he banged home a rebound on the left side of the goal crease, originating from a Mitchell Smith shot from the slot.
Matteo Vessella '27 was the goaltender for the "Big Red." Vessella stopped nineteen of twenty-one Northfield shots on net, making several key saves at crucial points in the game.
The St. Paul's School skaters will resume action on Saturday, January 31, at 4:15 in the Hockey Center on Gordon Rink when they play host to the Belmont Hill "Sextants."
