SPS traveled to New Hampton on Wednesday for a Lakes Region matchup with the Class AAA power Huskies. In the first four minutes of the game, New Hampton built a remarkable 16-2 lead thanks to their hot shooting, while the Big Red could not get anything to fall. After a quick timeout, St. Paul's did not give up, eventually narrowing the gap all the way to 21-25. After this, New Hampton's shot-making and interior presence proved to be too much for SPS, as the Huskies held onto an 8-to-12-point lead for the majority of the game, before pulling away in the closing minutes. St. Paul's should be proud of our effort, toughness, and resilience as we ultimately put together a solid effort in against a very strong opponent. In the loss,
Tighe Arache had the best game of his young career with 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Trey Miller finished with 15 points and 5 rebounds,
Jake Reardon added 13 points,
Patrick Ricca scored 9, and
Mekhi Simmons finished with 8 points and 7 assists.
