The Big Red hosted Williston on Friday Night for our annual Coaches vs. Cancer Night Game to support the American Cancer Society. In the first half, Williston came out hot and St. Paul's struggled to get shots to fall—allowing Williston to build a 25-16 lead with a few minutes left in the period. But, SPS was able to stay resilient and finish the half strong, in large part thanks to
Liam Henaghen's four first half three-pointers and
Quintin Eason's free throws. At the break, the score was SPS 25 — Williston 27. In the second half, the Big Red completely flipped the script and came out executing at a high level on offense and putting on the clamps on defense. Everyone got in on the action:
Mekhi Simmons scored the half's opening bucket,
Treyvon Miller had a couple beautiful post finishes, and
Patrick Ricca and
Jake Reardon both got hot from three. All this allowed SPS to pull away and earn the double-digit win. In the victory,
Liam Henaghen led all scorers with 18 points, while
Quintin Eason finished with 12,
Jake Reardon 11, and Trey Miller 10 points alongside 8 rebounds. Most importantly, for another year, SPS was able to support a wonderful cause—and finished with an even $1000 raised for the American Cancer Society.
