The St. Paul's School varsity boys hockey team traveled down to Lawrence Academy to take on the "Spartans" Saturday afternoon, and after fifty-nine minutes of hockey, they left the Grant Rink ice surface with a three-to-three tie. Lawrence Academy opened the scoring at the seven-minute and thirty-five-second mark of the first period when they scored on a nifty backhand shot in tight to the left side of assistant captain, goaltender, Blake Truchon '26. The "Big Red" responded with a power play goal two and a half minutes later, when Chay Simons '27 banged home a rebound from the right side of the Lawrence Academy net to tie the game up at one. Forty-three seconds later, the "Spartans" scored their second goal of the game on a breakaway to take a two-to-one lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, the "Big Red" would score their second power-play of the game just a minute and forty-one seconds into play when Colin O'Leary '27 tipped home a James Buchan '27 shot from the middle of the offensive blue line to knot the score at two. Then, eight minutes later, Mitchell Smith '27 won a power-play face-off on the right offensive zone face-off dot and made his way to the near side post and then slid a pass across the crease to Callum Green '27 to give the "Big Red" a three-to-two lead. The pesky "Spartans" worked tirelessly to tie the game, even while shorthanded. They took advantage of a "Big Red" offensive zone miscue and scored on their second breakaway of the game, tying the score at three and ending the scoring for the rest of the game.

Both teams skated hard and played opportunistic hockey in the third period and through overtime, but neither team found the elusive fourth goal or game-winning goal. St. Paul's School netminder Blake Truchon played another strong game in net, stopping thirty-three of thirty-six Lawrence Academy shots.

The "Big Red" are back in action on Wednesday, February 18th, at 5:30 pm when they travel down to Brookline, Massachusetts, to take on Dexter-Southfield, the number one-ranked team in New England, on Fusco Rink.
