The Big Red wrapped up their regular season with a convincing win over the Proctor Hornets. SPS "finished" strong in all aspects of the game as they put over sixty shots on the talented Proctor goaltender. A three goal first period by lamp-lighters
Cadence Crowley,
Madeline Allen and
Erin Flaherty gave the Big Red confidence. While Proctor snuck one in in the second,
Kelsey MacPherson would make it 4 – 1 before she and
Cadence Crowley would each get their second of the afternoon in the third period.
Paige MacPhee snuffed out the few chances Proctor had making 12 saves on the afternoon.
It was a total team effort as the d-corps of
Jade Hill,
Gabrielle Smith,
Madelyn Humber,
Emma Burke,
Malin Wilde,
Iris LaMoreaux and
Lucy Mallgrave dominated play in their end and moved the puck sharply through the neutral zone. Up front it was forwards
Maggie Berleth (a cameo appearance for two periods),
Chelsea Bell,
Tess Mulkerron,
Erin Flaherty,
Maealie Glanzer,
Cadence Crowley,
Liza Demain,
Madeline Allen,
Grace White,
Chandler Curtis,
Charlotte Cohen and
Kelsey MacPherson who focused making good decisions and looking for teammates as the possessed the puck in the offensive end. Goaltender
Julia Alessandro kept the energy high on the bench and
Alexis Rodriguez on the IR list constantly finds ways to support her teammates and the program. Many thanks to all for their hard work.
Next up for the Big Red is the Lakes Region Tournament. As the number one seed, SPS will host the KUA Wildcats on Friday night at 6 pm. The Big Red Hockey Center and the Gordon Rink should be full of energy and excitement. We hope to see you there.
Go Big Red!
