The Big Red Track and Field team traveled down to Philips Exeter Academy for a Saturday afternoon track meet alongside Austin Prep. The St. Paul's athletes were greeted by cooler conditions and talented opposition, pushing themselves in events across the board. With the elevation in competition, the Big Red were able to earn top three finishes in various events, including:
Girls: 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 300mh, Shot Put, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump
Boys: 100m, 800m, 1500m, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, High Jump
Notable performances include Iris Lamoreaux launching the Javelin for an 18 foot victory over her nearest competitor, Abbey Hafer securing impressive wins in the High Jump and intermediate hurdles, Charlie Harvey gaming his way to victory in the 800m after a 1500m PB, C.C. Goss pairing two top 3 finishes and PBs in the 1500m and Triple Jump, Harlem Taylor tossing a PB for second place in the Discus, Owen Gorenc slicing time off his 1500m and 800m PBs for the third consecutive meet in a pair of top 3 finishes, and Maealie Glanzer throwing a 2 foot PB in the Shot Put to secure second place.
Congratulations to the SPS athletes who continue to rise to the challenges of competition and secured personal bests on Saturday! The competition continues for the Big Red this Wednesday back at home against a slew of Lakes Region foes.Â
