Twenty-five motivated athletes from the SPS Track and Field teams made the journey to Choate Rosemary Hall to participate in the New England Prep School Track Association (NEPSTA) Division I Championships. The weather was near perfect, with temperatures in the mid to high 70s and a light breeze to help the athletes stay cool.
The Big Red had a day of great success, securing top 10 performances in the following events:
Girls: 800m, 1500m, 300m Hurdles, High Jump, Javelin, Discus
Boys: 100m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, Javelin, Discus
Notable performances include Charlie Harvey kicking his way to a New England Championship title in the 800m to pair with his strong 5th place finish in the 1500m, Abbey Hafer displaying grit and tenacity in her pair of scoring finishes in the High Jump (6th) and 300mh (5th), MJ Nials securing a personal best of 11.02 en route to his 3rd place finish in the 100m, Aedyn Kourakos using savvy race tactics to collect 3rd and 4th place finishes in the 800m and 1500m, Harlem Taylor tossing a personal best in the Shot Put and making the finals of the Discus, Sarah Spencer gritting out a 4 second personal best in the 800m to collect her 5th place medal, Callie Fortin notching a PB and 7th place finish in the Discus, Owen Gorenc clicking off splits in the 3000m and kicking his way to a 4th place finish after a solid PB in the 1500m, Iris Lamoreaux launching the Javelin to a 106'3" PB to claim 5th place, and Langston Williams blowing away his heat of the 800m to secure an overall 4th place finish and a 4 second PB.
Athletes reached their Personal Best in the following events:
Girls: 200m, 800m, 3000m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, Triple Jump
Boys: 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, Shot Put
Overall, the Girls earned 9th place, and the Boys were tied for 8th with Choate. Congratulations to all the athletes who competed in the final major event of the 2026 SPS Track and Field Season! We're already looking forward to the 2027 season with such a talented group of athletes!
