On October 26th, St. Paul's School (SPS) boys cross country competed against host school Phillips Academy Andover (PAA) along with Deerfield Academy (DA) and Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA) for a quad meet featuring perennially competitive squads. After a full week to rest, SPS was eager to test its speed against regular rivals. PEA's top runners opened the course's first loop and mile fast to put their team in a commanding lead headed into the Moncrieff Cochran Bird Sanctuary's big hill. DEA, PAA, and SPS had their own runners battle back into contention in the sanctuary, and scoring each team's top four runners through the second mile indicated that the team victory was anyone's to take. The SPS top five did not come away with the win on the day, but they showed that they will be ready to compete for a top spot at the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) title in two weeks.
Team scores: PEA 50, PAA 51, DA 56, SPS 60
Over a third of the competing SPS runners set personal bests:
Thomas Armstrong '26,
Silas Collins '28, Steve Ding '26,
Aaron Kimiri '27,
Linus Krenkel '27, Wrenn Ragsdale '26,
Mathis Riff '27,
Langston Williams '27, and
Brian Zhang '28. The next SPS race will be the Lakes Region Championship at home on Wednesday, October 30th.
