St. Paul's School (SPS) boys cross country hosted the Lakes Region Championship on October 30th and welcomed Brewster Academy (BA), Cardigan Mountain School (CMS), Dublin School (DS), Holderness School (HS), Kimball Union Academy (KUA), New Hampton School (NHS), Proctor Academy (PA), Tilton School (TS), and Vermont Academy (VA) to race in some wet but not rainy conditions. In their last home race of the 2024 season, SPS ran with clear intent early and packed up effectively through the first mile. The middle of the roster started to string out heading down the spine of the course and approaching the lower loops, but the early teamwork paid off by setting individuals up to press effectively in the race's back third and over its closing grassy stretch. In a field of 111 runners, SPS would take 9 of the top 10 spots and 18 of the top 25. Ben Anderson '26,
Thomas Armstrong '26, Steve Ding '26, and
Aaron Kimiri '27 all set personal bests.
Team scores (Lakes Region scores the top four runners from each team): SPS 10, TS 71, HS 76, BA 78, CMS 80, DS 81, KUA 84, VA 127. Fewer than four competing runners: NHS, PA.
SPS placement in this championship race and the two previous Lakes Region invitationals made them repeat Lakes Region Champions. They look ahead to the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Division 1 Championship at the Hotchkiss School on November 9th.
