This Saturday afternoon, the Big Red travelled north to the New Hampton school to take on the Huskies on their home turf. The two teams battled to an overtime game last year and this year's contest would be no different. The St. Paul's squad jumped out to an early lead and had control of the game after the first period with a score of 4-1. The momentum shifted some in the second as the Huskies were able to add three goals to the Big Red's 2. Score at halftime was 6-4. The second half saw more back and forth action with numerous lead changes throughout the final 24 minutes. New Hampton scored the first two of the third to make it a tie game at 6-6 but the Pelicans responded with two of their own and reclaimed the lead 8-6.

The huskies roared back by scoring three straight and had a one goal lead 9-8 going into the final frame. Some great defense and incredible saves in the fourth slowed the scoring but St. Paul's was able to balance New Hampton making the score 9-9 and then 10-10 with 6 minutes to go in the game. Both teams had chances at the end of regulation play but no goals were scored and the game was forced into overtime. On the ensuing OT face-off, the Huskies won the face and scored on a fast break to earn the victory. Scoring for St. Paul's-Quinton Delorey (3,0), Tommy Humphries (2,0), Fin Kilbourne (2,1), Will Iler (1,1), Conley Bohan (1,0), and Mike Seward (1,0).

This game brings an end to the regular season as the SPS squad looks to prepare for the first round of Lakes Region playoffs against Holderness (away) on Wednesday.
