In an emotional rollercoaster of a night at Bogle-Lechner Field, the SPS Big Red triumphed over the Proctor Hornets with a final score of 18-14. This victory was particularly poignant as it marked the last home game for the five departing Sixth formers:
Conley Bohan,
AJ True,
Jonas Eisman, Gus Belsher, and
Brad Cox, all of whom were celebrated before the game began.
The match kicked off under the bright lights and in front of a packed crowd, eager to cheer on the home team. Right from the start, SPS demonstrated their dominance at the face-off X, with
Bryan Folsom and Gus Belsher securing a vast majority of the over 30 face-offs, setting the pace and control for the game. The effective face-off strategy allowed SPS to establish a quick 6-4 lead by the end of the first quarter.
By halftime, the Big Red had widened their lead significantly to 13-5, thanks to a well-coordinated attack and solid defense. However, the Hornets found new energy after the break, narrowing the gap to 16-10 in the third quarter, putting pressure on SPS.
Despite the resurgence from Proctor, SPS held their ground.
Brad Cox, stepping up in his starting role, along with stellar netminding from
AJ True and
Luka Clark, ensured the Big Red maintained their lead. Additional scoring in the final quarter by SPS put the game out of reach for Proctor, securing an 18-14 victory for the Big Red.
Key contributors to the scoreline included Charlie Hepp (3 goals, 2 assists),
Quinton Delorey (4 goals, 1 assist), and
Conley Bohan (3 goals, 2 assists), who each played pivotal roles in the win. The win boosts SPS's record to 3-2 in Lakes Region play and 6-6 overall as they head into the final week of the regular season with an away match-up against Andover.
This victory not only celebrated the contributions of the Sixth formers but also strengthened the team's position as they approach the postseason, looking to continue their winning ways.
