On a warm, late summer day, the team traveled to face off against Thayer Academy. Big Red played some great field hockey throughout the game. This was an excellent game for SPS and a great team effort. Each member of the SPS JV FH squad played with hustle and intensity and contributed to the 3-0 win!  While most of the play was in the middle of the field, Daisy Singer, Louisa Gosk, and Nel Peter, found the net through persistence and grit. Daisy put the ball in the cage after a scramble during the second quarter. After some back and forth and a scoreless third quarter, Louisa fired the ball in the net after another scramble in the middle of the fourth quarter. Minutes later, Nel secured the victory for the Big Red with a stroke to the corner of the goal. SPS attack put good pressure on Thayer's defense throughout the game. The Big Red defense did a nice job of keeping the ball out of the circle and feeding the ball to the midfield and forwards. This win puts the Big Red at 1-0 as they head into the second official game of the season against Noble and Greenough School on Saturday.
