The top 13 runners traveled to race at historic Derryfield Park at the Manchester Invitational. JV took off first with a strong assembly of runners, many new to cross country. Led by captain
Clara Tcherepnin, the JV girls had a strong showing, finishing 8
th out of 21 teams. This is an improvement from their 10
th place finish last year out of only 17 teams-- a very promising result!
Clara Tcherepnin, Rita Krenkel Poppy Hamilton,
Madison Min, Katie Ragsdale and MJ Williams-Bello should feel very accomplished. The varsity girls competed in the small schools race competing against a mix of both regional public schools and NEPSAC opponents. The varsity squad produced a gritty performance, coming away with a 7th place finish out of 31 schools. Only 12 points separated place 5,6,and 7, which sets GXC up for some great competition at the upcoming Capital Area Invitational against Hopkinton and at the NMH Invitational against Loomis.
Aedyn Kourakos finished 3
rd overall with a tenacious finish, besting her time from last year by a minute on the same course. Brooks Boyd and C.C. Goss worked together on the challenging course and finished close together. The next two runners for GXC were
Bela Friedman and Minnow Brown. They were part of a strong SPS pack in the first half of the race. Rounding out the finishers for St. Paul's were
Allison Min and Mack Barrette. Next up SPS GXC turns their attention to the NMH Invitational and a chance to compete against Loomis again!
