The meet was a tough fight against a very strong Belmont Hill wrestling program. Matches started at 106 with losses by pin in 113, 120, and 126. Notably, Caitlin O'Reilly had a strong showing at 120 with a hard-fought match against a very skilled wrestler. Even though it ended in a loss, Caitlin wrestled well and demonstrated a will to win that will serve her well throughout the season. Ciaran O'Reilly similarly had a strong showing with an arduous competition against a strong wrestler at 132 lbs. He ended up going back and forth fighting off the bottom and outright refusing to be pinned until the third period. Charlie Lussier was the first win at 157 bs, he took control of the match with an immediate takedown setup with some skillful feints. From top position, he maneuvered well to finish his opponent in a pinning combination notching the first points for Big Red. Tristan Ho had another tough match at 165 against strong competition that went back and forth, both shooting for takedowns and scrambling for points. Unfortunately, the match did not end in Tristan's favor, but he showed tenacity in the face of a very tough opponent. At 175, Odin Delory had a good match, even if it started inauspiciously with a takedown for Belmont Hill. However, Odin fought hard and waited until he saw his chance, whereupon he struck by turning his opponent and ended up winning by way of pin. Rhys had a similar success story, initially getting a takedown but then getting caught in a tight headlock. Rhys did not panic and instead utilized great technique to secure the reversal and immediately transition to a pinning combination. Cooper Lussier took control of his match at 215lbs and was a dominant force in taking down and eventually pinning his opponent via head-and-arm. Last but certainly not least, Hans Wiederkehr dominated in his heavyweight match through repeated takedowns and mat control to win via technical fall.
