This week brought a dual meet against Thayer Academy and Greens Farms Academy in a home meet at St. Paul's School. The meet started against Thayer at 106 lbs where Maddie had a strong showing successfully defending a takedown and transitioning into a head and arm pinning combination. Thayer forfeited the next two weight classes causing the next match to be against
Noah Lu at 126 lbs. Noah took control of the match early with a takedown and hard riding in top position, attempting a couple different moves until finally finding a winning combination in running an armbar to pin his opponent. After Noah,
Ciaran O'Reilly won his match by pin in a one-sided match where he took control immediately and never let up on the gas. St. Paul's lost at 132 and 144 against strong competition. Charlie Lussier notched some more points for St. Paul's in another adept showing, starting with a take down and transitioning into multiple different scoring positions, ending up chain wrestling into a pinning combination. 165 and 175 were both hard fought losses for St. Paul's, but the matches turned around once more at 190-lbs with
Rhys Henrikson gritting out a win after wrestling a full match.
Cooper Lussier at 215 lbs and
Hans Wiederkehr at 285 lbs both convincingly won their matches to end the first dual of the day, leading to a final score of 54-23 in favor of St. Paul's.
The next match against Greens Farms Academy was an opportunity for St. Paul's to see what is possible and to gain valuable experience against some very talented and gritty wrestlers. Unfortunately, that also meant that St. Paul's only won a single match by forfeit across the dual resulting in a final score of 78-6 in favor of Greens Farms Academy.
