The first quarter each teams tested their skills on both ends of the field holding each other scoreless. Number 10 for St. Mark's stood out as an offensive threat so St. Paul's, Kate Clary '30 subbed in to mark #10 closely for the next three quarters opening the midfield for the Big Red. Minutes into the second quarter, SPS drew a penalty corner and executed their set beautifully,
Gracen Arndt '27 to Katie Kim '29, back to Arndt over to
Malin Wilde '29 for the goal putting SPS up, 1-0. With 48 second still left in the quarter
Erin Flaherty '27 drew a St. Mark's foul. With a quick self-start she passed to
Hillary Krayer '30 who dumped the ball into the circle. St. Mark's tried to clear the ball out of the circle, but Maddy Humber '28 was there to keep it in. She sent it down to Flaherty, over to
Liza Demain '28, who shot and scored from the left post ending the half 2-0. In the meantime, Abby Hafer '27,
Eloise Ekstrand '29, and Gabby Smith '28 had some amazing stops in the circle while Kim lifted balls up field giving SPS some fast break opportunities. With 3:24 left in the 3
rd quarter SPS drew another corner. Kim received from Arndt and sent the ball on net. In the ensuing scrum, the ball popped up to allow Flaherty to control it to the ground and rip it into the net making it, 3-0. The fourth quarter ending up being the Pelican's best. With beautiful give and goes and clean passes between Kim, Flaherty, Demain and Wilde, it was fun to watch. Drawing multiple corners, SPS finally capitalized again with 7:10 left in the game. Arndt to Kim back to Arndt, over to Smith who nailed it in net for the final goal. SPS had 23 shots on net and 13 corners.
