The St. Paul's girls JV hockey continued to improve with an impressive win over the Highlanders of Pingree School. In a late Wednesday afternoon home match up, the Pelicans came out flying with fast skating and crisp passing. Six different players scored in today's game as teamwork was the name of the game on the ice. The big red defense was again powerful allowing only a handful of shots on
Parker Neilson who turned all away to earn her second shutout in three games. Callie Fortin,
Thayer Demers, Ali Cabot, Kay Sumilas,
Lily Chibnik and
Louisa Gosk all played outstanding defense throughout the day.
Meg Bohan got the Pelicans on the board in the opening period with a top shelf shot that beat the goalie over her left shoulder.
Gracen Arndt scored a few minutes later with a nice rush to make it 2-0. Ellie Evans scored a beautiful goal on a backhand rebound to increase the lead to 3-0.
Emerson Bentley capitalized on a turn-over near the end of the first period to score and make it 4-0 after one period of play. The team continued to work on passing and communication as they controlled the tempo for the final two periods.
Chandler Curtis had a gorgeous break away back hand goal while
Gracen Arndt scored her second on an impossible angle of a shot to take the score to 6-0 after two. The final goal of the game was scored by Kitty Diamond as she received a nice feed from Gracen and banged home the final goal of the game. With a final score of 7-0, the team improves their overall record to 3-0 on the season heading into the holiday break. The Pelicans look forward to 2025 and our first game of the new year against the Proctor Hornets on January 15
