The girls JV Hockey team hit the road on Saturday to travel west to take on the Hoggers of Northfield Mount Hermon for a snowy afternoon start. The girls got right to work scoring twice in the opening minute to go up 2-0.
Emerson Bentley scored on the first rush the net after the opening face-off. Seconds later,
Chandler Curtis made a similar rush, and the girls were off and running.
Marina Kane would score a few minutes later to extend the lead to 3-0.
Hana Jang would knock a fourth goal home for the Big Red after a scrum in front and the girls' squad would hold that 4-0 lead for the next period and half of play. In the third period, the Big Red started putting the puck in the net again as
Caroline Frost scored her first goal of the season on a nice cross-crease pass from
Chandler Curtis.
Parker Neilson, who had a chance to skate out from her usual goal tending duties, would score her first goal of the season after a series of well-timed passes from teammates. Allegra Caracappa rounded out the scoring in the game with a nice low angle shot to make it 7-0.
Meg Bohan played in goal for the Pelicans and recorded her first shut out of the season as a goalie. The girls team remains upbeat and energized and hope to continue their streak as they look ahead to a busy week with Andover and Exeter, both away, in the penultimate week of the winter season.
