In the second game of the jamboree, the Big Red faced off against the Huskies of New Hampton who had defeated Kimball Union to make their way to the championship game. New Hampton was low on numbers but not low on talent as they scored the first goal on a breakaway to take an early lead 1-0. Shortly afterwards,
Gracen Arndt scored off a rebound of a
Marina Kane shot to tie the game up at 1-1. The Big Red got on a roll and
Emerson Bentley and
Gracen Arndt each scored to extend the lead to 3-1. However, a penalty against the Pelicans led to a penalty shot and goal for the Huskies and the lead was cut to one goal, 3-2.
Saylor Pachios scored a great "one timer" on a feed cross the middle and St. Paul's was back in form, up 4-2. Ali Cabot scored our fifth goal on a nice feed from
Chandler Curtis and
Emerson Bentley put the finishing touches on the victory with another goal late in the game to make the final 6-2.
Parker Neilson in net saw the most shots all season and turned away a huge majority of them to help lead the team to victory. The girls look ahead to a rematch with Dexter Southfield away on Wednesday.
