The Big Red traveled to Exeter with over 24 players to take on three Exeter tennis teams. The Boys Varsity "A" Team, both schools' top six players, are listed in the attached document. In doubles, the highlight was
James Estes and
Hunter Morton almost taking a set off of a superpower team of Raval/Chinsupakal. Hunter volleyed with incredible placement and aggression and JB complimented him with some baseline and serve firepower. In singles our lucky number six player, today it was Alex Gallien, took our lone point. Other singles matches were good battles with our guys making some needed improvements and adjustments throughout.
Our number seven through twelve players faced off against Exeter's Varsity "B" team, creating tons of action at the Exeter outdoor courts. Doubles went out first and our number three team of
Keijiro Hori and David Kwon were able to close out the set. Others were close but came up just short. In singles,
Jason Lee was in control of his first set but eventually dropped the third set tiebreaker, after many long ground stroke battles.
Jacob Kwon proved superior, showing mental toughness throughout his third set tiebreaker in an amazing 15-13 finish.
Up next, the Big Red travels to Austin Prep on Saturday, April 13!
